PYONGYANG -- Pyongyang on Wednesday dismissed Japan's rejection to demands for revision of its history textbooks as a move to tamper with history which can never be tolerated. The Japanese government on Monday claimed that "the textbooks did not contain clear-cut academic errors in terms of contemporary history." The approval of such history textbooks has sparked serious furore and touched off a wave of protests in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and other Asian countries, because it is not a simple "academic error," the official Korean Central News Agency said in a commentary. It is, in essence, a socio-historical, political, moral and diplomatic issue directly linked to Japan's past history of aggression, its reflection and apology for it and its political future, the commentary said. Therefore, it is one more political crime for the Japanese government to describe the despicable moves to tamper with history as "academic errors" and to challenge the demand of the international community, said the commentary, adding that this only reveals their political and moral vulgarity. It will trigger stronger rebuff by the international community, including the DPRK and other Asian countries, it added.
