E-north -- Fully completing the whole scheduled agenda, the International Consultative Forum for the Mayor of Tianjin successfully concluded in the noon of Oct.,28. Mayor of Tianjin Li Shenglin, Vice-mayor of Tianjin Wang Shuzu and other leaders attended the closing ceremony; the forum chairman and President of the Asia-Pacific Region of United Technologies David Manke delivered a closing address at the closing ceremony.

The forum is an important conference held at the historical time when China is going to enter WTO. About 500 participants attended the forum , including important domestic officials and former overseas politicians, entrepreneurs both at home and abroad and the leaders of Tianjin's departments and people of other related circles of Tianjin. Former US State Secretary General Alexander Haig, Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Kyocera Corporation & DDI Corporation Kazuo Inamori, Chairman of Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Dr.Robin Y.H.Chan, Former Chairman of Kobe Congress, Japan Yasuo Yoshimoto, Senior Researcher of the Development Research Center of the State Council Wu Jinglian, Vice-Minister of State Council Office for Reform the Economic System Li Jiange, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Legend Group Liu Chuanzhi and the persons in charge of the enterprises or the regional branches of the enterprises that are among the Fortune Top 500 made speeches at the forum.

During the forum, Secretary of Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of Tianjin's National People's Congress Zhang Lichang met with the representatives attended the forum. Mayor of Tianjin Li Shenglin delivered theme lecture and the mayor and the vice-mayors of Tianjin made dialogues with the representatives attended the forum.

During the forum, the participants discussed about four topics: Challenges of Global Informatization after China Enters the WTO and Tianjin's Countermeasures, the New Setup of International Capital Market after China Enters the WTO and Tianjin's Financing Strategy, The Challenges to the Chinese High-Tech Industry after China Enters the WTO and Tianjin's Technological Innovation System, and China's Entry into the WTO and Restructuring of Government and Enterprise Relationship. Around the problems of how Tianjin faces the new century and receive the challenges in order to grasp the oppotunities when China enters WTO, speed up the reform and opening to the outside world, construct Tianjin to a modern port metropolis and acturalise the leaping-forward development, they gave their advices.

After the closing ceremony of the forum, the organization council of the forum held a press conference, at which Vice-mayor of Tianjin Wang Shuzu answered the journalists' questions.
