Chen Liangyu, commissioner of China 2010 Shanghai World EXPO Bidding Committee and standing deputy-mayor of Shanghai, told Shanghai's application for hosting the World EXPO 2010 at a meeting held by the Bureau of International Exhibition in Paris on June 6. He said that the World EXPO so far has a history of more than 100 years and has played a big role in enhancing mutual understanding of people of the world and promoting social development.
