GAZA, Sept. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- One Israeli soldier and two Palestinian boys were killed Monday in their latest clashes in the West Bank, Palestinian sources said.
The day also witnessed injuries including 25 Palestinians and anIsraeli soldier, according to the sources.
In Nablus, fierce exchange of fire erupted between defiant Palestinian militants and Israeli troops trying to maintain unpopular curfew.
Witnesses also said dozens of Palestinian children and young menthrew stones at Israeli army vehicles and soldiers, who used live bullets to disperse the protesters.
Palestinian medics reported the deaths of two children, one at the refugee camp of Balata close to Nablus and another in town clashes with Israeli troops.
The sources said 25 others were injured and brought to hospitals in the town, which has been put under Israeli curfew for more than three months.
Meanwhile, the sources said one Israeli soldier was killed and another wounded in the gunbattle. Israel Radio confirmed the reportlater in the day.
An Israeli tank shell set ablaze several Palestinian houses in the town, local residents complained.
The shell landed at one building in the Casbah neighborhood, butthe fire quickly spread to adjacent houses, they said.
In another development, Palestinian militants opened fire and threw hand grenades at an Israeli army patrol near the Nahal Oz crossing east of Gaza City, Palestinian security said.
After the Palestinian ambush, Israel's Apache helicopters flew in and fired two missiles at the scene of fighting, but no injurieswere reported.
Saraya Al Quds, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad (Holy War), has claimed responsibility for the armed ambush.
