Background

Some famous modern large-scale buildings built in the early 1920’such as Quan Ye Bazaar, Department Store are located in this area. He Ping Road used to be the city center until 1980’s. The beautiful“s-shape”curve bank of Haihe River give people stuning sightseeing enjoyment, and the silhouette of tower of Department Store combined with the Jingang Bridge used to be the image of Tianjin. After reconstruction in 2000, He Ping Road becomes a pedestrian, so the whole block between Haihe River and Heping Road deserves great commercial potential.

Planning Intention

Through redevelopment and landscape rebuilding, Haihe River Square will be constructed as the landmark and image of Tianjin as an international metropolitan. The elegant promenade along the waterfront will become as the most beautiful and attractive place to citizens as well as tourists. The Haihe Odeum, a large-scale cultural building, may be the landmark of the square holding culture activities. Contents of Construction

Haihe Odeum with floor area 15,000 sqm will be built in north bank of Haihe River. Underground parking lots and shops are considered to link to nearby underground station. In south bank of Haihe River, a commercial complex, named Heping Square, with restaurants, hotels, entertainment and leisure facilities, is to be built with its floor area between 200,000 to 300,000 sqm.
