Sep 29,2003(enorth.com.cn) On February 7th 2001, as definite customer, Beiyang Shipping Corp acquired " Ratification of Imported Electric Mechanism Products" on Kiev Aircraft Carrier former hull with their aim of creating the World Biggest Military-Theme Park as well as the China's biggest educational base for national defense in Hangu District of Tianjin Municipality, north China.

With a total investment of RMB 5bn yuan and the first input of RMB 500mn yuan, the military museum is scheduled to cover an area of some 7 square kilometers, of which 3.3 million square meters are water area.

"Kiev" will be made a focal point of a warship museum attached to the park, with a number of other ex-military devices to be introduced. Other facilities in the park include recreational grounds, restaurants and hotels.

"Kiev," 274 meters in length, 52 meters in width and 51 meters in height and weighed 24,000 tons, was built in 1975 and demobilized from the Russian Navy in 1995.

The refit of the "Kiev" aircraft carrier, the flagship of the second generation of the aircraft carrier of the farmer Soviet Union, lasted two years since it arrived at SHG Shipyard on May 21,2001. On Sep 14, the carrier has began its short journey to go home of its Tianjin Port location and has anchored at its final destination of military-theme Park in Tangu District of Tianjin Municipal, north of China, on Sep 29,2003.

On the Golden week of National Day¡¯s ten-day vacation, the visitor can just have a outline view of it and the formal ceremony is due to be in the same period of next year.
