A chorus of prestigious Nankai University in Tianjin will go on an eight-day trip in Taiwan cultural exchange, sources with the university said Sunday.
The 81-member Nankai University chorus, scheduled to leave for Taiwan next Tuesday, will stage three public art shows respectively together with choruses of the Chinese Culture University in Taipei, the Feng Chia University in Taichung, and the National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, said Liu Jingquan, asenior official with the Nankai University.
The chorus will present traditional national music and Western classic music pieces as well as song items composed by the chorus itself in Taiwan, according to Liu, also head of the mainland delegation.
The chorus has toured Italy, the Republic of Korea and Germany since its founding in 1995 and won 10 global awards in chorus contests, Liu said.
The elite Nankai University, founded in 1919, is the alma materof late Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai (1898-1976).
