Heavy fog persisting from Monday morning to afternoon has forced North China's Tianjin Municipality to close its airport and all local expressways.
Local transportation authorities said service of eight expressways passing through the port city have so far been closed and the airport was closed in the afternoon.
The Tianjin Municipal Meteorological Station said that the visibility in some fog-covered areas was fewer than 100 meters. The visibility in most urban areas was 200 meters.
According to local meteorological experts, the foggy weather is expected to continue until early Tuesday morning.
