Nowadays, the largest petrochemical project in our country—Sinopec Tianjin One Million Tons of Ethylene Refining and Chemical Integration Project got the approval from the State Council and was permitted to put into construction. According to the schedule, the project will be put into construction officially in early this year, and be completed and put into operation at the end of 2008. At that time, the ethylene total scale of Tianjin PetroChemical will amount to 1.20 million tons, and the oil refining capacity will reach 12.50 million tons. Each year, 12.00 million tons of petroleum, petrochemical and chemical fiber products with high quality, high performance and wide coverage can be produced. The construction of the project symbolizes the formal entrance to construction phase of the largest industrial project in our city’s history.

Tianjin One Million Tons of Ethylene Refining and Chemical Integration Project is not only the leading project to implement the decision of the Central Government, accelerate the development and opening up of Binhai New Area, a symbolic project to build a State-level coastal chemical industry area with high level, but also a significant event with landmark meaning in the development history of China’s ethylene industry.
