(Tianjin Daily)Yesterday, it was known from Tianjin Municipal DPRC that Sinopec Tianjin One Million Tons Ethylene Refining and Chemical Integration Project would be started officially on 26, this June under the decision of municipal relevant departments. Up to now, the supporting projects for “the Large Ethylene Project” including the railway capacity expansion and reconstruction, and 300 thousand tons of crude oil port have been under construction; 100 thousand tons/day desalination of sea water project co-funded with Singapore has been initiated; twelve projects of local chemical industry matching to “the Large Ethylene Project” are under primary preparation, and will be constructed in succession within this year.

Last December, the State relevant departments checked and permitted Sinopec Tianjin One Million Tons Ethylene Refining and Chemical Integration Project, and approved Tianjin Large Ethylene Project to put into construction. In this project, nearly 20 sets of devices with world-class level and leading at home will be built, and the total investment will reach up to 25.0 billion yuan. It is the first super-large project approved by the State after the incorporation of Binhai New Area into the State overall development strategy. In order to ensure the project schedule, the local supporting projects for “the Large Ethylene Project” are in rapid construction. And Sinopec also accelerates its pace on the negotiations for introducing foreign technologies, the optimization of building mode and production scheme, the adjustment general layout, and improving the feasibility research report, so that the product market and material inter-supply cost as well as the environmental protection risk can be further reduced and its market competitive capacity can be further enhanced after “the Large Ethylene Project” is completed. It is known that in the project, Sinopec plans to invest 7.5 billion yuan to build a North China crude oil hub in Tianjin so as to meet the crude oil demand of Tianjin Ethylene Refining and Chemical Integration Project and cover the peripheral regions as well as the whole North China. The project consists of two parts: the crude oil storage and conveyance supporting project in Tianjin Ethylene Refining and Chemical Integration Project, and the Caofeidian crude oil pipeline and its supporting facility project. Of which, the supporting project for Tianjin Refining and Chemical Integration Project is planned to be put into construction in the same pace with the “Large Ethylene Project”. The Sinopec refining and chemical integration project will become the leading project of the industry development in Tianjin PetroChemical.
