Tianjin Beijiang Power Plant project, one the Binhai new area¡¯s ten key projects in 2006, will start working next month. When it finishes, the yearly electricity generation capacity will be 11 billion kilowatt-hours, which can meet the whole city¡¯s need and can also help to alleviate the electricity lack in the north China.
Tianjin Beijiang Power Plant, covering 2.2 square kilometers, situates between Dashentang village and Shuangqiao village in Hanguying town, with the total investment of 26 billion yuan. It will first introduce the most advanced ultra-supercritical pressure coal-fired power generation technology, which has high parameter, big capacity and low pollution. At the same time, it will be equipped with a series of high-tech establishment such as salt water cooling tower. The yearly electricity generation capacity will be 11 billion kilowatt-hours. If four sets operate at the same time, it can meet the whole city¡¯s electricity need.
At present, the first session of Beijiang Power Plant, 13 billion yuan¡¯s investment, is going well. Two sets of 1 million kilowatt ultra-supercritical pressure coal-fired power generation machine will be constructed next month and they will generate electricity in due form in 2009.

Ultra-supercritical Power Generation Technology
Ultra-supercritical power generation technology debuted in Europe and Japan in the late 1990¡¯s. Through increasing boiler steam¡¯s pressure and temperature to improve boiler¡¯s heat efficiency and decrease coal consumption, the technology is the most advanced coal-fired power technology in the world now. At present, more than 30 sets supercritical machines have been made into use, but there are still no million kilowatt grade ultra-supercritical sets.
