Thus, a domestic-leading modern iron and steel joint enterprise at world -class level, possessing large-scale technological equipment, continuous production process, high-efficiency energy utilization and effective environmental protection, stands grandly in Binhai New Area.

As an old state-owned enterprise with a long history of more than seventy years, Tianjin Steel once contributed a lot to the development of national iron and steel industry as well as the local economic development. However, the enterprise, located in the downtown areas, was still following the backward iron-smelting and steel-making techniques, which caused low quality in products, high production cost and serious pollution. All this has curbed the further development of the enterprise.
