Tianjin Soda Plant of Bohai Chemical Industrial (Group) Corporation signed “Technology Transfer Contract on Coal Gasification” with Royal Dutch Shell Company with the ceremony held in Tianjin Astor Hotel recently. The event marks a key step in the move and reconstruction of Tianjin Soda Plant, and provides abundant gas source guarantee for the whole devices of chemical engineering. Yang Dongliang, vice-mayor and member of the Standing Committee of Tianjin CPC Committee, attended the signing ceremony.

It’s said that the move and reconstruction of Tianjin Soda Plant is an important project to promote the development and opening-up of Binhai New Area, as well as an milestone project of the construction of Bohai Chemical Industry Park. Since the commencement on December 18, 2005, the project has made rapid progress. The coal gasification plant, as the leading project of the move and reconstruction of Tianjin Soda Plant, will provide an abundant gas source for the production of soda, methanol, and acetic acid and have direct impacts on overall quality and profits of the whole project. Cooperating with Shell, Bohai Chemical Industry Group Corporation will adopt globally first-rate technology to build a coal gasification production line with the coal-feeding capacity of 2×2000t per day. The signing of the “Technology Transfer Contract on Coal Gasification” will promote the development of the move and reconstruction of Tianjin Soda Plant, and mark a good start of the cooperation between Bohai Chemical Industrial (Group) Corporation and Royal Dutch Shell Company.
