Tianjin Soda Plant, as the cradle enterprise of China’s chemical industry, witnessed the development track and great changes of 100-year China’s chemical industry. According to the planning of authorities concerned, Tianjin Soda Plant will be moved to Lingang Industrial Zone from the middle of Tanggu District. Tanggu District Government will carry out the “market operation” strategy for the former site and collect funds for the move and construction by means of “land exchange”.

Because Tianjin Soda Plant is located at the center of Tanggu City Town and the joint area of “one axis and one zone” (one axis: "high-tech industry development axis" and one zone: marine economy development zone) in the planning of Binhai New Area, it is the core area of “Ecological and Pleasant Binhai New Area” for Tanggu District to preferentially build. With the economic growth of Binhai New Area, land price in the central area of Tanggu District will also rise. Adjoining to the business pedestrian street of Tanggu District, Tianjin Soda Plant enjoys absolute location advantages, which significantly influences on the planning and construction of Binhai New Area.

After the move, the former site of Tianjin Soda Plant will be optimum for Tanggu District and people of Binhai New Area to construct a pleasant coastal dwelling area. At present, authorities concerned have preliminarily worked out land using plan and constructed the business area and will further improve the construction of the downtown of Tanggu, increase the carrier and service function, and optimize the ecological environment and the city image.

It’s said that Tianjin Soda Plant covers an area 1.87km2, and 1.5km2 of the land (excluding some facilities reserved) is available. Being locating at the central area of Tanggu District and adjoining to Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Area (TEDA), the location is predominant and the place for value-appreciation is wide.

The reporter learned from authorities concerned that Tanggu District will launch the nationally biggest business area in 2006, further improve the construction of central area, plan 50.57km2 of land at the joint of Haihe River, the sea and ports, and invest nearly 100 billion yuan in this area. After 3-year construction, a pleasant and ecological coastal city with beautiful environment, prosperous economy, convenient traffic and comfortable living will emerge finally.
