Jiang Zemin, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, Chairman of the PRC, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, inspected Tianjin from October 8 to 10. He once again made an investigation and research focusing on the thorough implementation of the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 15th Central Committee of the CPC as well as the reform and development of the SOEs. He stressed that cadres and people from CPC committees and governments at all levels and SOEs should profoundly grasp the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 15th Central Committee of the CPC and closely integrate work with SOEs’ realities and the real market. On the second day right after his attendance at the opening ceremony of Tianjin Artistic Gymnastics World Championships after the National Day, President Jiang Zemin visited local factories and enterprises to know more about SOEs’ reform and development as well as the key parts needed to seize when fully implementing the spirit of the fourth session of the 15th Central Committee of the CPC and condole all the staff in SOEs. Jiang Zemin and Zeng Qinghong, an alternate member of the Political Bureau of CCCPC, Secretary of the Secretariat of CCCPC, escorted by Zhang Lichang, Secretary of Tianjin Committee of CPC, Li Shenglin, Mayor of Tianjin City and Du Tiehuan, Political Commissar of Beijing Military Area Command, visited Tianjin Peace Bay Power Sources Co., Ltd, Tianjin Toyota Motor Engine Co., Ltd and Tianjin Pipe (Group) Corporation.
