The expansion project of Tianjin Airport with investment of 2.6 billion yuan partly started in June 2005 and the terminal building project started on August 8, 2005. The new terminal building plans to complete at the end of 2007. It designed to be 74 thousand square kilometers and estimated to reach the yearly passenger throughput of 5.6 million person-times and 2200 person-times in rush hour regarding 2015 as the objective year. The expansion project, especially the new terminal building project, was planned by NACO Inc, a world top airport plan company joined in planning of the Capital Airport and the design was in the charge of American KPF Inc.. The design process was scientific, reasonable, abundant in culture taste and environment-conservative, standing out with its unique characteristics in domestic terminal building design.
