HSBC Tianjin Branch Binhai Subbranch started business on August 30, 2005. It was the first foreign bank that settled in Binhai New Area.

China Enterprise Federation, China Enterprises Directors Association ranked and issued the results of the Top 500 of Chinese Enterprises (2005) on August 21, 2005, meanwhile, they initiated Top 500 in both manufacturing industry and service industry.

Tianjin Gas Group initiated its gas project in Lingang Industrial Area of Binhai New Area on August 11, 2005.

“The Sixth Asia-Europe Finance Ministers’ Meeting” was held in TEDA on June 26, 2005.

Premier Wen Jiabao visited Tianjin Binhai New Area from June 24 to June 26, 2005.

Zhang Lichang, member of CPPCC and Secretary General of Tianjin CPC Committed, presided the Enlarged Conference of Standing member of Tianjin CPC Committee which discussed and passed “The Taijin Outline of the Eleventh Five-year Plan for National Economy and Social Development in Binhai New Area” on June 7, 2005.

Free Trade Logistics Garden in Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone carried out trial operation and laid basis for the transition of free trade zone to international free trade area on May 11, 2005.

Tianjin Lingang Industrial Area officially gained national land use certification of 12.1 km2 in April 2005. From then on, Lingang Industrial Area had been speeding up on its development and investment attracting in April 2005.

The signature ceremony for the construction of Tianjin Binhai Earthquake Monitoring Center was held in TEDA on April 5, 2005.

The land use certification of 4.97km2 for the initiation of the west of TEDA was approved by the Ministry of Land and Resources on March 30, 2005. On May 14, the Investment Service Center in the west of TEDA was in operation which marked a new turn of land expansion and development.

The Working Committee of TEDA confirmed that the following three years are the scientific development year for the two areas on March 24, 2005.

The Crown cars produced Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co. Ltd. was completed for production in TEDA on March 21, 2005 which marked a complete automobile industry line had been established in Binhai New Area.

Invigorating Regional Economy of Bohai Rim and Promoting Development of Tianjin Binhai New Area Forum was held in Tianjin on March 18, 2005. It is co-sponsored by Population Resources and Environment Committee of CPPCC and Tianjin Political Consultative Conference.

The Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Land and Resources, The Ministry of Construction of the People’s Republic of China co-issued “Official Reply on Enlarging the Layout Area of TEDA” under the approval of the State Council and agreed it to expand land use in January 2005. It marked the full-scaled operation in the west of TEDA.

The Second China Port Economy Forum, co-sponsored by the Administrative Committee Tianjin Binhai New Area and China Development Institute (CDI), was held in TEDA from January 8- 9, 2005.

Tianjin Custom relocated its headquarters for the center of Tianjin City to TEDA in Tianjin Binhai New Area on January 1, 2005.
