The public is in for a treat this coming February 1, as the 24-member China Tianjin Cathay Future Children's Art Troupe of the People's Republic of China will be in the Sultanate to give an exclusive performance under the invitation of Brunei's Ministry of Education. The colourful and vibrant show will be held at the Auditorium of the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College in Jalan Muara and will commence at 9.30am.Founded in May 1995, the China Tianjin Cathay Future Children's Art Troupe is one of the world's largest children's art troupes with the largest number of actors and performing artists.
At present, the Children's Art Troupe is made up of ten branches, namely the Children's Dancing troupe, Infant's Art Troupe, Symphony Orchestra, Children's Traditional Instrument troupe, Children's Chorus troupe, Children's Beijing Opera troupe, Children's Acrobatic troupe, Children's Ballet troupe, Children's Performance troupe and the Children's Popular Narratives troupe.
Four experienced and highly skilled performers, Wang Zi Shen, Zhao Bao Shanm, Shen Guang Wen and Chen You Zheng are the art supervisors of the children's troupe which consists of over 500 young national artists.
In addition to winning numerous awards in various national children's art competitions, the troupe has created and rehearsed hundreds of programmes and participated in many important performances in Tianjin and throughout the country.
Travelling around the globe, the troupe has visited and performed in Canada, USA, Brazil, Colombia, Jamaica, Russia, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, among others.
Well received by audiences in China and in other countries, the troupe is regarded as "the angels of peace and friendship".
The China Tianjin Cathay Future Children's Art Troupe is scheduled to arrive in Brunei on January 31 and will be leaving on February 2 after their performance.
