The Tianjin Cathay Future Children Arts Troupe of the People's Republic of China was yesterday treated to a dim sum breakfast by Helen Chin, Jigsaw Primary School Principal, at Dynasty Restaurant.Among the 60 guests who attended the event were representatives from the Ministry of Education and some Jigsaw schoolchildren.

To the delight of the audience, the gathering saw a Chinese Fan Dance staged by the Jigsaw schoolchildren as well as group dance, instrumental and song performances by the Chinese troupe.

"The breakfast treat for the talented young children from China is a farewell gift before they leave for Malaysia for their next performance. Their mini performance today alongside the students of Jigsaw Primary School has been a great presentation that was enjoyed by all the guests," said Helen Chin.

Also in attendance were Cikgu Hjh Ainah Hj Ibrahim, Education Officer of the Department of Schools from the Ministry of Education, Mr Zhao Qian, Headmaster of the Children's Foundation from Tianjin, China and a representative from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Brunei.

The Chinese performers came to the country at the invitation of the Ministry of Education to showcase their talent at the Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College last Thursday.

The Tianjin Cathay Future Children Arts Troupe was established in 1995 with over 500 students currently trained to enhance their talents in either vocals, dance or musical instruments, said a supervisor of the Chinese troupe.

The troupe, which has already performed in over 54 countries, comprises talented children aged between four and 10 years old, she added.
