(Enorth.com.cn)Dongjiang Bonded Harbor Area, a new part of Tianjin Port nearing the end of its first phase of construction, is receiving unprecedented attention from both domestic and foreign investors.

Big-name companies including HSBC, China Merchants Bank, Mapletree Logistics, Sweden's Mediterranean Shipping Company, French Compagnie Maritime d' Affretement, and Korean Hanjin Shipping signed agreements of intention with Tianjin Port, hoping to take advantage of free economic policies granted to the mainland's largest bonded harbor area.

Tianjin Port held an investment promotion and agreement signing ceremony for Dongjiang Bonded Harbor Area on Friday. Vice mayor of the Tianjin Municipal government Huang Xingguo attended the event.

Huang said that Dongjiang Bonded Harbor Area aims to become an international free trade zone which will be a top one in China featured with its largest area, most favorable conditions, most preferential policies, most efficient work style, most convenient port in clearance, and most free working atmosphere. Great efforts will be spent bringing the functions of Dongjiang Bonded Harbor Area into full play and implementing comprehensive reforms in Binhai New Area where the bonded harbor area is located in an orderly manner.

With a batch of key projects being under construction in the new area, a series of policies of relevant ministers released and a number of large State-owned enterprises setting up branches here, Binhai New Area has become one of the country’s most dynamic region in economic development, said Huang.

Dongjiang Bonded Harbor Area covers business including international trans-shipment, distribution, purchase, transit trade and export processing. With an expected area of 10 square kilometers, it is the largest free port in China. Dongjiang Bonded Harbor Area will enjoy most preferential policies on financing and tax; ensure efficient and convenient working procedures for enterprises in clearance like no-paper clearance and set up an enterprise credit system, said Huang.

The administrative department will bring the advantages of Dongjiang Bonded Harbor Area into full play to improve its functions and turn the free port into a key function zone serving as an international shipping and logistics center in North China and an experimental zone for Binhai New Area’s comprehensive reforms, according to Huang.

The establishment of Dongjiang Bonded Harbor Area creates broad business opportunities for domestic and foreign enterprises, said Huang, adding that the municipal government will bolster the development of large groups and companies in this free port in optimizing investment environment and creating favorable conditions.
