Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area ("TEDA") announces that seven leading overseas mobile carriers plan to come to Tianjin, China. The organizing committee of International Mobile Industry Exhibition and Forum 2007 (IMIE 2007) has said that these seven carriers plan to purchase mobile phones and related products, including the latest HSDPA devices in May.
Aimed towards the launch of 3G services, China's telecommunications industry has entered a new period of high growth. China has become a mobile industry center, with the world's largest mobile phone manufacturing base, mobile service subscriber base and consumption market. In 2006, around 46.9% of the world's mobile phones were made in China, with one-third of this total shipment sold in China's domestic market and the rest being exported. There are over 70 licensed mobile manufacturers and OEMs in China. They are providing the world market with mobile phones from low costproducts to high- end 3G phones and smartphones.
As a hub of mobile phone manufacturing in Northern China and China's most important mobile phone manufacturing base, Tianjin has established a complete mobile phone industry value chain. The city has attracted several leading global mobile phone manufacturers, like Motorola and Samsung, to set up production bases here. These companies shipped over 100 million phones to global markets and domestic markets in 2006.
The annual International Mobile-phone Industry Exposition (IMIE) in Tianjin is China's premier mobile phone industry event with a perfect platform for new technology announcements, procurements and productshowcasing. The event is endorsed by the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) of China, Ministry of Commerce of China (MOCC) and Tianjin Municipal Government. The IMIE enters its fifth year in 2007.
The organizing committee announced that, based on its up-to-date communications with exhibitors and speakers for the trade show and conferences, the hot topics of the coming IMIE 2007 in May 2007 include:
-- The recent innovations in different sections of China's complete industry value chain including mobile carriers, manufacturers, independent mobile phone design houses, chip and software providers,component manufacturers, solution providers, etc.
-- Along with keynote speakers from MII and leading industry organizations, the mobile carriers, including China Mobile and China Unicom, will demonstrate their new applications, roadmaps and growthstrategies.
-- TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance will showcase their latest achievements in the industrialization of TD-SCDMA, Chinese home-grown global 3G standard. The TD-SCDMA products include system equipments, terminalsand chips etc.
About 30 overseas carriers and distributors plan to come to IMIE 2007 to purchase mobile phones and parts. The carriers are from Germany, Israel, Korea, India, Vietnam, Bhutan and Bangladesh. The international purchasing delegations include those from the USA, Russia, Canada, Thailand, the Philippines, and the Netherlands. Their purchasing lists cover HSDPA/GSM/CDMA mobile handsets, PDA, smartphones and other mobile devices, as well as components and accessories.
In IMIE 2006, the total amount of deals made by the global buyers exceeded US$100 million and covered every spectrum of the mobile industry chain. Together with a never-closed online exhibition site in multiplelanguages, the International Mobile Purchasing Network, IMIE helps both sellers and buyers to seek business opportunities on and off the Internet.
Besides exhibitors from leading companies like China Mobile, China Unicom, Motorola, Samsung, Intel, ZTE, Bird, Levono, DTmobile, Symbian, Qualcomm, Freescale, and Infineon, etc., there are delegations from Korea, Japan, the Ukraine, mainland China and Taiwan. Along with the 20,000 square-meter show, IMIE 2007 will facilitate conferences and seminars including ''International Mobile Phone Industry Summit 2007,'' ''The 2nd Mobile Entertainment Forum,'' ''China Cellphone Component Summit 2007,'' ''Global Mobile Phone Purchasing Meeting'' and ''One-on-one Business Matches''.
