With Binhai New Area’s including in the overall development strategy of the state, Tianjin becomes the focus of attention and enterprises from all over the world come to Tianjin to seek business opportunities.“At the 2nd Tianjin Negotiation Fair held last year, the attending domestic and foreign delegations have promulgated at total of 3150 cooperative projects, 99 of which are projects involving foreign investment and the contractual foreign capital introduction volume is US$2.28 billion; 55 are projects involving domestic investment and the contractual capital introduction volume is US$17.4 billion,” said Shi Zhenjin, deputy director of Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Commerce.

Brand reputation is on the rise

Shi said that last year’s fair has evoked high-degree attentions of the world as Binhai New Area was just included in the overall development strategy of the state. Tianjin Negotiation Fair makes promoting the development and opening of Binhai the central contents, gives prominence to realistic effect and enhances the appealing of the fair.

According to person in charge of Guangxi delegation which participated in the fair for the first time last year, Guangxi has benefited a great deal from regional economic cooperation as a member of the Pearl River Delta. Guangxi wants to participate in the cooperation between two regions to seek business opportunities and realize common win. In addition, businessmen from Hainan, Zhejiang, Jilin and Shaanxi and foreign businessmen showed great interests in the development and investment in Binhai New Area.

Through such forms as setting up special investment zones, holding promotional fair, formulating investment invitation directory and site visit, contracts for 57 projects are signed, involving a total of 27.2 billion yuan. Among big projects, the combined heat and power generation with a total investment of US$240 million in Airport Processing Zone and Tianjin Port container maritime and railway exchange loading project with a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan and Hangu Hangmu Jinxing Hotel with a total investment of 700 million yuan become the hot spots of investment.

The fair has greatly boosted rapid development of conference & exhibition economy. According to a taxi driver, passengers taking taxi during the fair period double that of ordinary days. According to data provided by Tianjin Municipal Commerce Commission, the sales of hotels and restaurants increase 30% and hotel accommodation rate increases 20% during the fair period.

Promote Binhai all-roundly

It’s said that this year’s fair will be held on April 18. According to source from the Organizing Committee, Binhai New Area will give prominence to eight major functions and display the manufacturing industry, R&D advantages, traffic and navigational advantages, logistics transfer advantages, information service advantages, industrial product advantages, information service advantages and leisure tourism advantages of Tianjin Economic and Development Area (TEDA), Tianjin Bonded Area and Tianjin port. Such projects as Dongjiang Bonded Port, Airbus A 320 project and one million tons of ethane will be mainly introduced and the future development planning and investment initiation projects will be all-roundly promoted.

Shi Zhenjin said that the Industrial Exhibition Area will mainly display projects in electronic information, chemical, metallurgy, auto, bio-technology and modern medicine and new energy and environmental protection. The Agriculture Exhibition Area will mainly display achievements of the countryside and agricultural development, as well as the latest achievements of agricultural industrialization and urbanization construction. Urban Construction Exhibition Area will mainly display such urban facilities as inter-city railway, lightrail, subway, bridge and express way.In addition, High-Tech Exhibition Area will mainly introduce the strategy of “invigorating Tianjin with science and technology”, popularize new technologies, new materials, new technological process, achievements in developing environmental-protection economy and recycling economy. A batch of top-notch products and high-tech achievements with independent intellectual property rights will be showcased. Various supportive and favorable policies for intellectual property rights protection will be elaborated and a batch of cooperative projects in scientific and technological cooperation and result transference will be launched.

Join hands in promoting regional development

Provinces and municipalities of Bohai rim area participated in the fair actively last year and a batch of joint development projects was launched and the contract of dozens of regional cooperation projects are signed. At the same time, mayors of 32 cities in the regional also participated in the fair.Shi noted that this year’s fair will better promote the cooperation between Tianjin and provinces and municipalities in Bohai rim, set up a platform of cooperation and exchange for prosperity and development and provide services for Bohai from the following five aspects.

First, enhance port cooperation and supplement the advantages. Tianjin Port is implementing 34 key projects, actively pushing forward the construction of Dongjiang Bonded Port Zone, further uplift port functions, realize reasonable work division of Bohai rim and promote the development of port economy.Second, enhance the construction of vertical traffic system and a swift regional traffic network. Tianjin is rebuilding Binhai International Airport and accelerating the traffic network linking provinces and municipalities in Bohai rim.

Third, enhance industrial cooperation to upgrade convergence and competitiveness. The advantageous industry of Tianjin will be sufficiently displayed and enterprises of provinces and municipalities in Bohai rim are welcome to participate in enterprise rebuilding and upgrading through grafting and M&A. At the same time, opportunities are also created to encourage Tianjin’s enterprises to invest and develop in provinces and municipalities in Bohai rim.

Fourth, enhance cooperation in tourism and develop the tourist market together. Tianjin will enhance the cooperation in tourist resources with provinces and municipalities in Bohai rim to forge trans-regional tourist market.

Fifth, increase commercial cooperation to expand service market together. Tianjin will make common efforts with provinces and municipalities in Bohai rim to construct a unified open market system and improve regional cooperation mechanism.

Presently, more than 30 domestic and foreign institutions and governmental departments have registered to participate in the fair. The European Union Chamber of Commerce reserved double exhibition booths than that last year; Hong Kong Trade Development Council said that is will organize some overseas enterprises to participate in the fair; enterprises in South Korea and North Korea also showed their will of attending the fair.

It’s said that the people’s government of Zhejiang, Fujian, Hainan, Liaoning, Hebei, Xinjiang, Shaanxi, Qinghai and Gansu said that they will organize delegation to participate in the event and expand the exhibition area. According to Shi, the fair has become a window for foreign investment introduction and an important platform for trade consultation, investment and cooperation of MNCs.
