The ceremony for the new plant under the name Kennametal (China) Co., Ltd. is attended by Chairman Song Pingshun of Tianjin Political Consultative Conference and President and CEO Carlos Kardos of Kennametal, who jointly cut the ribbon at the celebration. Other key figures in attendance include Deputy Director Li Yong of TEDA Administration Committee, Vice Director Lu Guangzhi of Tianjin Development & Reform Commission, Deputy Director Liu Huichun of Tianjin Commercial Committee and Deputy Director Ni Xiangyu of TEDA Administration Committee.

The plant of Kennametal (China) Co., Ltd. operating in TEDA West is in its first phase which takes up a land area of 15,000 square meters and costs in all USD31 million. The biggest manufacturing base run by Kennametal outside the United States, the new Tianjin plant manufactures standard blades, hard alloy drills and tools resistant to abrasion, and provide tailor-made instruments solutions. In addition, with this Tianjin outlet, Kennametal can enhance its capability to fulfill the ever-increasing Asia-Pacific market demand, explore the Asia-Pacific market, provide more efficient services and support in a better way its customers operating in China.
