Deputy Party Secretary of Tianjin Municipal Government and Chairman of Tianjin Political Consultative Conference Sun Shunping attends the celebration and cuts the ribbon for the new plant. Other key figures in attendance include President Ju Hongzhen of China Rubber Industry Association, Party Secretary Lu Fuchun of Tianjin's Hangu District, General Manager Zhang Bingjun of TEDA Investment Holding, and Chairman of the Board and CEO Kennett F. Burnes of Cabot Corporation of the US.

Cabot Corporation is a global chemical manufacturer of carbon black, fumed metal oxides, tantalum, inkjet colorants, Nanogel® aerogels, masterbatch and conductive compounds and cesium formate fluids. This Massachusetts-based company runs Cabot (China) Investment Co., Ltd. in China, which jointly establishes Cabot Chemical (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. with Shanghai Coking. The project costs USD 60 million in its first phase and the plant manufactures per year 105,000 tons of quality carbon black. It has two production lines both of which capitalize on Cabot Corporation's latest production technologies and advanced environmental protection applications. Its environment friendly processes are capable of not only energy recycling, but also de-sulphurization.

At the celebration, Cabot Corporation makes monetary donations in favor of 20 needy students of Tianjin's Hangu District.
