Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile Co Ltd has recently marked a milestone in both its own development and the history of Chinese independent auto brands by rolling out the 1.5 millionth Xiali sedan, a sea blue N3.
Xiali, China's first economy car brand, was launched in the 1980s. Its market possession has already broken the 1.2 million-unit mark. Calculations on the basis of China's private car possession indicate that one out of every 11 sedans bear the Xiali badge.
It took Tianjin FAW 18 years to produce the first 1 million units of Xiali cars, but only three years to get another increase of 500,000 units. Its extraordinary growth has set a benchmark for the development of the national sedan industry.
The mode and effects of Xiali's successful development have blazed a trail for other autonomous brands to follow. Its brand recognition, reliable performance, high quality, independent innovation and convenient services have combined to enhance the popularity of Xiali on the domestic market.
To some extent, Xiali is synonymous with reasonable consumption, thanks to its low costs in purchase, usage and maintenance.
"It is easy to handle." That's how consumers usually comment on a Xiali. But achieving such excellence is not easy. Above all, it requires a human-friendly design philosophy.
Moreover, the carmaker must have strong technical strength in every aspect of the car development process.
Tianjin FAW has succeeded in striking a balance between cost control and quality management.
Based on Toyota's leading management concepts and mechanism, which it introduced earlier than most domestic peers, the famous Chinese economy carmaker has already formed an effective quality control system that allows it to cut prices while at the same time improve quality and technical content.
