It was a gripping 扣人心弦的 World Cup final between the women’s teams from Germany and Brazil in the Hongkou Stadium in Shanghai on Sunday.
Both teams played well, and each team's coach later gave credit to 称赞 the opposing team.

The surprise finalists, Brazil, looked confident after their 4-0 hammering 痛击 of the USA in the semi-finals. They showed flair 风格 and creativity 创造性 but were unable to score against the strong German defence. Their best chance at a goal was a volley from Daniela which bounced off the post.
Germany’s first goal was scored by Prinz after a set-up by Smisek on the right wing. With only four minutes remaining, they scored again from a corner kick by Renate Lingor, headed 头球 in by Simone Laudehr.
The German team had not conceded 让队方进球 a goal throughout the championship, and goal-keeper Angerer made several superb stops 阻止 in the final, including denying Marta’s penalty shot which had looked like saving the day 拯救了全队 for Brazil.

Germany have the edge
 Brazil were fantastic to watch, but Germany had that psychological edge you get through winning games and not conceding.

England winger Sue Smith commented that Brazil were "fantastic", but that Germany had a "psychological edge 理优势" because they had not conceded a goal. The BBC’s Gavin Peacock agreed that Germany must have felt "invincible’所向无敌的".
Jorge Barcellos, Brazil’s coach, summed up 概括 the match when he said that "Germany had fewer chances, but when they got them they scored." Germany are the first womens team to retain 保持 the World Cup title.
