Hu Guozhen, member of Tianjin People’s Political Consultative Conference, submitted a draft to give priority to the development of public transport, upgrade public transport’s role in mitigating traffic jam and provide a better traffic environment for local people.

According to the draft, Tianjin shall increase the input to public transport and promulgate policies encouraging the use of pubic transport tools; give priority to the land for the construction of public transport facilities, give the priority of the road right to public transport tools; optimize the public transport lines and reasonably allocate the transport resources, lengthen the operation time of bus and metro, rationally adjust the rush hour and bus lines with rather big passenger flow; upgrade the quality of public transport workers and eliminate uncivilized phenomenon in carriages; establish the humanistic identification system and further optimize the environment for waiting bus.

Establish special lanes for public transport tools

The draft by Hu Guozhen has evoked the high-degree attention of relevant units. The Draft Office of Tianjin People’s Political Consultative Conference is now coordinating relevant departments in implementation and Tianjin Municipal Construction Committee collaborated with Beijing Municipal Bureau of Public Security and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Price to seriously study problems existed in public transport.

According to Tianjin Municipal Construction Committee, the city will adopt measures to accelerate the construction of public transport station, bus shelter and maintenance bases; increase the vehicle upgrading efforts and promote the use of mixed powered bus and environmentally-friendly and high-class public transport vehicles; Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Public Security has arranged special lanes for public transport tools and reasonably adjusted the lines.
