Schweb: I believe the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2008 will be successfully held by Tianjin.

Thanks to the rapid development of Tianjin, many local media of Tianjin are fortunate to get opportunities to attend the Annual Meeting of the New Champions. It is my privilege to make a 20-minute exclusive interview with Professor Schweb, founder of World Economic Forum.

Schweb, one of professors of economics of University of Geneva, is a 67-year-old German and has received the doctorate of engineering and economics and master degree of public management. In 2007, he was crowned one of top 100 most influential “scientists and thinkers” by TIME Magazine. In 1971, Schweb created the World Economic Forum at Davos, a small town of Switzerland. Over the past 30 years, the forum played a more and more important role.

On the event of “Tianjin’s night”, Schweb received an interview. He is still very interested in China and Tianjin.

According to Schweb, the world’s future is not only decided by Fortune 500 Companies but also influenced by those emerging countries and growing companies. Schweb also believes Tianjin is an ideal city to hold the meeting of executives of growing companies because it is so charming.

When mentioning this World Economic Forum, Schweb thought this forum was a successful annual meeting. Over 2,000 political, economic and academic elites attended this annual meeting, which would play a very important role in the global cooperation.

Schweb said the last Annual Meeting of the New Champions was successfully held in Dalian last year. Great efforts will be made to ensure the success of this Annual Meeting of the New Champions held in Tianjin. The annual meeting held in Tianjin will be the second Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Asia. Schweb believes the meeting in Tianjin will accomplish greater achievements. At the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2008, more attention will be drawn to China’s development. Finally, he expects the meeting can be successfully held in September at Tianjin.
