The service center explains ecological concepts

On the construction site of Sino-Singapore Eco-city, the outer eave of the main body of the entire service center was completed, the pipelines of the main body were laid out, while the construction workers were busy with window and door installation, pipe branch layout, and internal decoration. Besides, roads around the service center were being evened. Before June 15, all buildings will be completed; in July, the building of the 30,000-square-meter initial area will be built.

The outer eave of the service center covers an area of 12,000 square meters, with a spectral hue of orange. At first glance, it adopts one material; but to see it carefully, the building adopts different materials at both sides and the middle part. According to Zheng Guohua, an engineer of Tianjin Construction and Design Institution and a project manger of the service center of Sino-Singapore Eco-city told that the service center adopts aluminum honeycomb panel at both sides and perforated aluminum panel for the middle part. “The type of material is densely covered with small holes, through which natural wind can blow in the middle part, making a good effect of ventilation,” said Zheng Guohua.

Zheng Guohua went on say that the entire service center focuses on the balance between the building and the environmental protection. From planning to implementation, it makes full use of energy-saving and environmental-friendly building materials and scientific effective technologies, thus carrying out an ecological concept in the project in an all-round way. For example, the service center adopts light steel and partition materials that are more environmental-friendly and economic than ordinary materials; the low emissive glass prevents the building from heat emission of the outside world, so as to reduce the use frequency of air conditioning; it establishes a water heating system with solar energy to decrease coal consumption and pollution aroused by coal burning and heat generation.

“We make full use of various ecological and energy-saving building materials and technologies to define the ecological concept and enable Sino-Singapore Eco-city to serve,” said Zheng Guohua, “These innovative materials and technologies will be applied in other projects of Sino-Singapore Eco-city. Besides, other new materials and technologies will be merged as the times requires, enabling Sino-Singapore Eco-city to be environmental-friendly and pleasant ecological city as well as an innovative city leading the development of ecological and environmental-friendly industry.”

An international ecological science and technology university will be set up in Sino-Singapore Eco-city for leading the development of ecological and environmental-friendly industry.

Zheng Guohua also disclosed that the building contents of the initial area of Sino-Singapore Eco-city include the establishment of an international ecological science and technology university (provisional name). The planning map released by the administrative committee of Sino-Singapore Eco-city shows clearly that the international ecological science and technology university is located in the southwest of Sino-Singapore Eco-city.

“Sino-Singapore Eco-city not only aims at developing into a pleasant ecological city, but also grows to be an original place for international ecological and environmental-friendly technology,” said Lin Xuefeng, deputy director of the administrative committee of Sino-Singapore Eco-city, “Therefore, it is necessary for Sino-Singapore Eco-city to set up an international ecological science and technology university. At present, the university is in the process of planning; we are actively negotiating with CPC Binhai Committee and Tianjin Municipal Educational Committee. At the same time, we intensify communication and cooperation with Singapore for the completion of the university, for the sake of offering technological and talent supports to Sino-Singapore Eco-city.”

During the course of making the general planning of Sino-Singapore Eco-city, numerous experts from home and abroad got together and gave various comments and suggestions for the planning. Many of them consider that the Eco-city shall reflect not only “natural ecology”, but also “social ecology”. Dong Ke, senior planner of China Academy of Urban Planning and Design explained that “natural ecology” refers to the building of hardware like afforestation, while “social ecology” requests that economic explosion, social harmony, environmental-friendly and energy conservancy shall be conforming to the development mode of a ecological and civilized city. “In fact, Sino-Singapore Eco-city features the development of an ecological economy and the establishment of an industrial structure of saving energy resources and protecting ecological environment,” said Dong Ke.

Dong Ke’s speech well explained the necessity to establish the international ecological science and technology university. It is predicted that in the coming days, the university will become one of important scientific research institutions of Sino-Singapore Eco-city for cultivating numerous scientific talents for the Eco-city and developing a great deal of energy-saving and environmental protection technologies.

“Sino-Singapore Eco-city aims at building a resource-saving, environmental-friendly and socially harmonious city, and then realizing a harmonious coexistence of human and human, human and economic activity, and human and environment,” said Lin Xuefeng, “In the coming 10 to 15 years, Sino-Singapore Eco-city will experience a course from scratch to existence, during which we will focus on the environmental-friendly and ecological industry, developing the eco-city to a model to realize the ecological concept and build a ecological new city in China.”
