(Enorth.com.cn)The construction of Tianjin West Railway Station for Beijing-Shanghai Express Railway, one of the 20 key traffic projects of Tianjin, kicked off formally yesterday. As an important project for Beijing-Tianjin inter-city railway, Beijing-Qinhuangdao dedicated passenger transportation line and Beijing-Shanghai express railway, the project will be finished in 2011. It will turn into a modern large-sized comprehensive traffic hub being capable of realizing “zero exchange” between a multiple of traffic means.
The project includes a principal project and an auxiliary projects. With a total investment of about 2.5 billion yuan, the principal project includes newly building two station buildings, elevated waiting lounge, underground passenger corridor and a tunnel for luggage and parcel.
The construction period for the project is 3.5 years, of which the passenger station will be built in late 2011 and the construction of the auxiliary project begins in March 2009 and ends in 2011. With a total investment of about 11.5 billion yuan, the auxiliary projects include the south square project, north square project, road project, rail traffic project and relevant systematic project.
