(Enorth.com.cn)Recently, the People’s Government of Jixian County in Tianjin held a contract signing ceremony with Beijing Gede Yongle Cultural Development Corporation for building of the Academy of Sports, Culture and Arts under the Tianjin University of Sport and the “International Culture, Industry and Education Park.” This university project, with a total investment of 1 billion yuan, features culture, industry, and a combination of learning, research and production and will be built in Jixian County. According to plans, the project will occupy an area of 1,000 mu, or 167 acres. It is reported that the project will build a creative industry and education base for “music, art, film, television and media” as well as a platform for the integration of cultural industry for all of East Asia, bringing new highlights to the development of cultural industries in Jixian County.

In recent years, leveraging its own advantages, Jixian County has intensified its efforts to develop tourism and cultural industry aggregation, and has attracted a large number of property projects to Jixian County, such as Dream Valley and Evergrande. Additionally, there is the International Culture, Industry and Education Park project located west of Panshan Mountain and the neighboring Dream Valley Culture City, which will occupy a floor space of nearly 300,000 square meters. Phase one of this project will begin operations by 2010 and will feature over 10 subjects, as well as 40 specialty-oriented courses covering music, dance, film and TV and the fine arts, basically including all relevant areas of the cultural industry. The number of students enrolled over five years will reach 8,000.

In terms of development orientation, this project will be complementary to Dragon Valley Cultural City. By 2012, it will be China’s largest and most influential cultural industry university, and will integrate production, study and research. It will also become a complete system covering modern film and TV, artwork, cartoon and animation, Chinese digital music, as well as creation, education, exhibition, trade and service. In 2015, it will become an international education park for cultural and artistic industries which will focus on cultural industries but also on integrated chains and advanced supporting industries and will attract both famous Chinese and foreign artists to gather at the park to create and produce cultural products. At the same time, this project will directly attract cooperative projects to Tianjin. These projects will be set up by investors, the International Film School of Paris in France and the Media School of Bournemouth University in the UK.
