Mike
Douglass is Professor and former Chair of the Department of
Urban and Regilnal Planning,University of Hawai'i(UH).He received
a PH.D.in Urban Planning at UCLA.A specialist in urban and regional
planning in Asia,he has lived and worked for many years in Asia,including
Japan,Korea,Indonesia and Thailand.He has joined numerous research
and planning projects throughout the region and has been a consultant
for such institutions as the United Nations,the World Bank,USAID,World
Resources Institute,and national and local goverment in Asia.
Awards and honors include the Meyer Fellowship,Umiversity of
Singapore(2002),Visiting Professor and Scholar at Stanford Unversity(2002),Shorenstein
Distinguished Lecturer,Institute for International Studies,Stanford
University(1998);Rockefeller Foundation Scholar at Bellagio(1998);Perloff
Chair in Urban Planning at UCLA(1996);Senior Research Fellow
at the East-West Center(1993-present);Japan Society for Promotion
of Science Visiting Scholar,Tokyo University(1985).The University
of Hawaii has indetified him as one of its "ninety fabulous
faculty."
