In the industrialized society£¬ city is the place where factories are located and the service center of trade. Since the middle and late period of 1970s£¬ however£¬ as the rapid development of information industry£¬ the globalization of economy and the group-being trend of district economy speed up the progress of the world urbanization. Facing the situation of world multi-polarization and economic globalization£¬ we feel that striding forward to modernization is the main melody of the development of the cities in nowadays. Modernization of the city is the comprehensive inflection of the development and changes of economy£¬ society and life style of the city. Tianjin has had a history of nearly 600 years since the its foundation in 1404. Since 1760 when Tianjin opened the trade at wharf£¬ Tianjin also has had the history of over 140 years. After World War I£¬ Tianjin has become the largest industrial and commercial city in the north of China. After the foundation of People's Republic of China£¬Tianjin has gradually become an open comprehensive harbor city and industrial base. The GDP will be increased by more than 10% annually£¬ quadrupling in advance comparing with that of 2000. The GDP per capita will reach the level of that of medium advanced countries. We'll upgrade the economic structure and make the proportion of the third industry more reasonable. Hi-tech and modern service industries will be the mainstay of the city's economy. The overall quality of the economy will be raised and the international competitive ability will be enhanced.
